Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to build and develop a Unified Data Platform using Microsoft Fabric. The engineer will be responsible for establishing the platform’s foundational ETL framework, developing ingestion and transformation pipelines and implementing a Medallion Architecture in Microsoft OneLake. The role will cover the initial platform foundation as well as the iterative development of analytics use cases through Agile delivery sprints. 

This opportunity is available for contractors and full-time employees within the EU.

Key responsibilities 

  • Configure and develop Microsoft Fabric workspaces, initially for the development environment.  
  • Build the foundational ETL/ELT framework for the Unified Data Platform.  
  • Develop master orchestration pipelines for data processing workflows.  
  • Build ingestion pipelines for customer-provided business data.  
  • Implement Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers in Microsoft OneLake.  
  • Create and manage Delta Tables within the Fabric data platform.  
  • Develop data transformation, cleansing and validation processes.  
  • Expose curated datasets through SQL and Warehouse endpoints.  
  • Prepare data for semantic model and Power BI consumption.  
  • Support the development and integration of analytics use cases.  

Required experience 

  • At least 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience within the Microsoft ecosystem.  
  • Practical experience developing solutions with Microsoft Fabric.  
  • Experience with Fabric Data Factory or equivalent Fabric data pipeline capabilities.  
  • Strong experience building ETL/ELT and data ingestion pipelines.    
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse and Delta Tables.  
  • Experience with data orchestration and workflow development.  
  • Experience exposing data through SQL or Warehouse endpoints.  
  • Understanding of semantic models and Power BI data requirements.  
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources into a unified analytics platform.  
  • Ability to troubleshoot data quality, pipeline and integration issues.  
  • Experience working within Agile, sprint-based delivery teams.  
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer.
