The 3 Questions We Always Ask Before Starting an AI PoC

ShareShare

Developing an AI PoC can be costly and can take up more than 6 months. We at Peruzzi Solutions believe that it doesn’t have to be this way. To develop a PoC on a budget and on time, you need to ask yourself the following questions:

1.     What single process or task do you want to improve and how will we measure success?

Many PoCs fail because they try to prove too much. We always narrow it to one clear, measurable goal.

For example: “Reduce contract review time by 50%” or “Auto-classify 80% of documents correctly.”

Don’t forget: If you can’t measure it, you can’t prove it.

2.    Do we have access to the right data (and permissions)?

Great ideas fall apart without usable, compliant data. We check early that your data is:

  • Accessible (in the right format)
  • Clean enough for AI to learn from
  • Cleared for experimentation (especially in legal/finance contexts)

Don’t forget: Data quality determines PoC success.

3.     What happens after success?

We define the “so what?” upfront. A PoC is only valuable if there’s a clear path to adoption, e.g., integration into an internal tool, scaling to production, or supporting a funding decision. This keeps projects outcome-driven, not just experimental.

Bonus tip:

We’ve found that a PoC with one sharp question, good data, and a clear next step succeeds 10× more often than projects that start broad.
